While the kids & Alan were in Alb, Mom and I got to see a couple of movies. We saw Mr. Brooks, which was just ok. The premise was silly and the whole movie was a little dull. Plus the subplot with the daughter seemed to be added on at the last minute to extend the length of the film. It didn’t add anything to the story or plot.

We also saw Knocked Up and this movie is just hilarious. That’s really all there is to it. Ok, well maybe there’s a little more to say, like don’t take the kiddos. Because the themes are adult and so realistic it’s like peeking through your neighbor’s living room window.

Ben, a 20 something slacker who’s greatest ambition is to launch a website dedicated to celebrity nudity (think Mr. Skin), is faced with fatherhood after a one night stand. The mother to be, Alison, an ambitious entertainment journalist, worries about raising the baby alone. She and Ben begin an awkward courtship, getting to know each other and eventually fall in love.

Naturally there’s the painful breakup and climatic reconciliation, don’t expect any big surprises…wait, I take that back. There might be a surprise or two or three…I don’t know, I was hiding my eyes behind my hands at this point.
